Dose of Colors - Lipstick and Lipgloss Review

Typically, I am not one to fall for the "Instagram Beauty Lines." You know the ones I'm talking about....the ones that random people come out with, and advertise through endorsements on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter, etc. However, when I saw some of my favorite beauty gurus backing Dose of Colors lip products, I knew I had to check them out. Plus, I loved the packaging (which is a rarity for these pop up brands, as most of them look cheap), and the colors looked unique.

The first round I ordered, consisted of Sorbet, Soft Touch, and Cotton Candy. Sorbet and Soft Touch are their 2 newest lipstick shades. These colors are right up my alley, with Sorbet being a beautiful light coral shade, and Soft Touch being a pretty light pinky nude. I was not disappointed when I received them in the mail! (and might I mention...they took less than a week to arrive)

I loved the products so much, that I placed a second order and went for some more daring colors: Love Potion (lipstick), Attitude (lipgloss) and Sunshine Kisses (lipgloss). It came yesterday!!!

LIPSTICKS

L-R: Soft Touch, Sorbet, Love Potion

Sorbet -

Sorbet is a coral/peachy shade that is actually brighter than I expected. It has great pigmentation, and lasts a decent amount of time on my lips with no liner. Mind you, I'm not one to care about applying a lip product a couple times throughout the day. I would say it lasts 4-5 hours with minimal wear. It is a really gorgeous color for the summertime. The scent is pretty similar to MAC lipsticks, although not as strong. I wouldn't say this is particularly hydrating, but it definitely didn't dry my lips out at all. I would definitely recommend this shade.

Soft Touch -

This is my perfect pink. I'm serious. Probably my new holy grail, everyday pink color. It is the most gorgeous pinky-nude with a slight peachy undertone. Think MAC Crème Cup, but a little bit lighter and brighter. It is awesome. It has the same wear time as Sorbet, with just about 5 hours. I would suggest exfoliating before applying this, since it is a lighter shade of pink, and can cling to dry patches. I applied it over some lip balm, and loved the way it looked.

Love Potion -

AHHHHHH!!!! This is my favorite. It is the prettiest lavender-pink shade, with a cooler undertone. Not too dark, and not too "in your face" bright. This is a really gorgeous shade for spring/summer. I wore it all last night, and couldn't stop looking at it in the mirror! Obsessed isn't a dramatic enough word. I can see this easily making my top 10 favorite lipstick list.

LIP GLOSSES

L-R: Sunshine Kisses, Cotton Candy, Attitude
Disclaimer: I can't say that I've ever been a huge lip gloss fan. Most of the time, they're sticky, and ruin the lipstick color I top it on. However, these glosses are more like liquid lipsticks. They have almost full opacity, and are not sticky. They have the same vanilla scent as the lipsticks, and feel great on the lips.

Cotton Candy -

Cotton Candy is the perfect bright pink gloss. It is not over the top, but definitely adds a pop of color to your look. It is creamy, and applies very evenly to the lips. This is perfect for when you want a standout shade on your lips, without looking extremely over the top. It wore on me for about 3 hours, which I think is pretty good for a lip gloss!

Attitude -

Think Love Potion, in lip gloss form, with a touch more pink. It is actually less purple than I expected from the swatches shown on the website. But, its almost a good thing, because it would be too similar to Love Potion, and I would never wear it. It is opaque and very creamy. It is a mid-tone pink, with a hint of violet. It is really pretty, and lasts a decent amount of time on the lips.

Sunshine Kisses -

This one is a really pretty peachy orange. It is the least opaque of the lip glosses, and it takes some working with to get an even application. I really love this color for summer, but I think it would look best worn over a lipstick to get full color payoff. It is worth the extra effort though because this is a truly unique color. (well, at least for me it is)
